At a very young age I was immersed in the arts through ballet and music. It was no real surprise then that I was drawn to studio art and art history as college majors. For me it was simply an extension of the rhythm and music that I had found in my ballet dancing and orchestra experience. This gave me a colorful window to another form of art and expression.

 I have chosen pastel for the fun and richness of the color and the challenges of the medium. I am influenced by the bold colors of the Impressionists together with their talents in capturing the essence of light. It excites me to see how light bounces, radiates, shines, reflects an array of colors and patterns everywhere. I enjoy creating scenes, places or moments where people might find visual pleasure and a desire to 'want to go there' feeling.  This is accomplished through color, texture, form, imagination, a whimsical moment or humor drawing one into the scene.

 Two comtemporary artists that have influenced and encouraged me are Julie Friedman and Alex Piccirillo. To them I say thank you for their mentoring and inspiration.
